Where To Buy The Google Nexus 7

Published

on

The Google Nexus 7 is finally shipping to those who pre-ordered the device. It’s hard to get ahold of one now without a pre-order, but there’s a number of stores out there selling the device, and hopefully one of them will have more tablets to sell.

The first, and most obvious place to buy the Nexus 7 is Google’s Play Store. It was the first store to have the tablet available for pre-order, and is the only place that sells the 8GB version as well as the 16GB version. Any user who wants to pay $200 for the tablet, plus shipping and tax, has to go through Google.

Every other store only has the $250 32GB model to sell.

Update: The 16GB Nexus 7 is back in stock in the Google Play Store

GameStop seems like the biggest store that’s definitely selling the Nexus 7. It was one of the first stores to accept pre-orders, and it’s nearly impossible to travel five miles in suburban areas without hitting at least one location. The video game retailer doesn’t have the tablet on sale on its website, but it does offer pre-orders in stores. Don’t walk in without a pre-order, however, every GameStop we called on Long Island and in Ohio either only had enough for pre-orders, or had none at all.

Staples is another big store selling the tablet, and it actually has the tablet on its website. It’s listed as out of stock at the moment, however. There’s a note on the page telling potential buyers to check back between July 14 and July 18 for more available units.

The other big office supply store, Office Depot also sells the Nexus 7. It’s happy to still sell units online under the pretense of a pre-order with free delivery and an estimated delivery time of 3-5 business days.

Strangely, camera store Adorama also carries Google’s tablet. The store in Union Square had units to sell to The Verge yesterday, so the store might have some non-pre-order units available. The website currently lists the tablet as pre-order for a mid-August delivery, however.

Best Buy should also sell the tablet at some point, but we don’t know when. Hopefully the electronics store will have more information soon, but for now we just know it will sell the tablet sometime in the future.

There’s a typo at the end of the second paragraph. It’s a 16GB version for $250.

I’m waiting for Best Buy to start selling it since I have gift cards burning a hole in my pocket.

No the 16GB ones are $199 everywhere except amazon pretty much. Gamestop, Staples, Walmart, and Google sell it for $199.
