iPad Mini 4:3 Display & Battery Photos Leak
An iPad Mini display is on show for all to see in a leak from eTrade Supply, a gadget parts supplier. The photos show a claimed iPad Mini display with a 4:3 aspect ratio and a nearly 8-inch diagonal size.
The iPad Mini announcement and release date are swiftly approaching and a new leak offers a look at the screen that might sit inside the smaller iPad.
eTrade Supply shares images of an LG made display that measures “162mm in length and 124mm in width” according to the company. The 7.85-inch display doesn’t use a widescreen ratio like the iPhone 5 and the Nexus 7.
The 4:3 aspect ratio makes sense as it is the same as the larger iPad, and this could point to a 1024 x 768 resolution display, as found on the iPad 2. This would simplify app compatibility, allowing apps to run at native resolution, though developers may still need to adjust the size of some buttons to accommodate the smaller touch points.
The leaked iPad Mini display photos show a cable similar to what we would expect on an iPad and include manufacturer marks that point to it being a genuine screen.
Sharp was originally rumored to provide the 7.85-inch iPad Mini display, with a small border and a 1280 x 800 resolution. At this point it is not clear if Apple is sourcing displays from multiple vendors or if one of these displays is the real deal.
eTrade Supply also shares photos of the iPad Mini battery which match up with iPad Mini battery photos leaked Monday. The battery images show a “16.7Whr battery running at 3.72V”according to eTrade Supply.
The iPad Mini announcement is expected on October 23rd when Apple is hosting an event in San Jose, California. Apple is expected to announce the smaller iPad with a starting price between $250 and $350, and a possibility for 3G or 4G LTE connectivity.
