Many iPhone 5 owners would gladly pay $25 to jailbreak the iPhone 5, but don’t be tricked by companies that promise to unlock and jailbreak the iPhone 5 or an iPhone 4S iOS 6 jailbreak.
One of the worst offenders is Safra1n, which promises to “jailbreak iPhone 5 iOS 6.”
It would be great if jailbreaking the iPhone 5 was as simple as paying $25, but there is no iPhone 5 jailbreak yet. There are groups working on an iPhone 5 jailbreak, but users will not likely need to pay for the jailbreak tool once it is successful. Though users may need to pay for a developer account to jailbreak the iPhone 5.
It’s not clear how Safera1n plans to jailbreak the iPhone 5, or how the users like James Fillion in Atlanta, GA, was able to perform the “iPhone 5 iOs 6.0 Jailbreak” he writes about in his review of the service.
The front page claims a 100% money back guarantee, but most users won’t want to follow all the steps needed to receive a refund, including the need to send the iPhone in to the company before a refund is made.
The company can deliver an iPhone 5 unlock, but there is no way users purchasing this service can jailbreak the iPhone 5 at this time. There is no untethered iPhone 5 jailbreak, there is no tethered iPhone 5 jailbreak, it simply doesn’t exist. Other similar looking sites promise similar results for $25 to $30.
When the iPhone 5 jailbreak release arrives, it will come as a free tool that is easy to use. We’ll provide directions on how to jailbreak the iPhone 5 shortly after the tool is released. This time around users may need an iPhone developers account. This could be as simple as registering with a service like IMZDL for $7 to $9 or may require users to join the official program by paying Apple $99.
