OtterBox Armor Series iPhone 5 Case Arriving in February (Video)
The OtterBox Armor Series case for the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S and Galaxy S3 is on the way soon, bringing water, dust and shock protection to OtterBox’s case lineup.
OtterBox revealed the Armor Series case at CES 2013, showing off the waterproof, shockproof and dirt-proof capabilities in an over the top introduction, that saw the case run over by a car, thrown into a toilet and chucked across a desert without damage to the iPhone 4S inside.

The Armor Series iPhone cases arrive in February exclusively at AT&T and OtterBox. The exclusive retail distribution won’t limit the case to only AT&T versions as the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 are physically the same across all U.S. carriers.
OtterBox uses multiple seals and layers to deliver the company’s first waterproof iPhone 5 case. Like the LifeProof iPhone 5 case, the Armor Series allows users to talk and listen to music without removing the iPhone 5 from the case. The Armor Series iPhone 5 case is notably thicker than the LifeProof case, but OtterBox claims it is the toughest smartphone case available. We’ve yet to see another iPhone 5 case handle being run over by a car.
The OtterBox Armor series uses a nickel latch to keep the case closed. The latch looks great next to the plastic body and provided a significant “click” as the OtterBox rep demoed the pre-production model. The case includes an opening for the camera and covers that fold back to offer headphone access and charging access. It isn’t clear if users can still use the headphones and keep the phone waterproof like on the Lifeproof case.
OtterBox mentioned $100 in the demo videos, so users can expect to pay a premium for this higher than average smartphone protection. The iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 cases goes on sale on February 22. The OtterBox Armor Series Galaxy S3 case arrives in the following weeks. OtterBox offers one color for the iPhone 4S, three colorful options for the iPhone 5 and two for the Galaxy S3.
