HTC One Photo Samples: High Quality, or Just Another Phone Camera?

Published

on

HTC is making a big deal about the Ultrapixel camera on the HTC One and HTC Zoe, and now we get a chance to look at some of the first HTC One photo samples and HTC Zoe Shares.

The HTC One features a Ultrapixel camera which HTC claims offers 300% more light than competing 8MP smartphone cameras for dramatically better low light photos. HTC shared several comparisons, but now we are finally able to see real world Photo Samples to see what the HTC One Ultrapixel camera is capable of.

These new HTC One photo samples and videos come from the HTC Zoe application which HTC launched as part of HTC Sense 5.0 on the One. HTC Zoe takes up to 20 photos and a video which are merged into a living photo album. Users can share the albums to Twitter and other social networks where the Zoe is presented as a video montage and then as a collage of photos and videos. The results are nice to look at and offer creative users a chance to add filters and styles to video and photos.

I definitely feel like these are just pretty or colorful scenes taken with another decent to better smartphone camera. I guess after seeing high end photos from the Lumia 920 i’ve been spoiled. Otherwise pretty good for your everyday user (again, in my opinion).

Were there a lot of bad pictures ?
You kept repeating that these were the best or better photos.

If these were the good pictures, I would have to have seen the bad pictures. How HTC have the nerve to pose this as being a groundbreaking new camera is disgusting, the Nokia N8 was released 3 years ago and it still takes photos that are much, much better than these ones.

they arent great photos but i guess its a step up from HTC to bring in ultra pixel. imagine what next will they bring, if they go for about 8 ultra pixel instead of 4. new generation technology starts small and ends big, needs a company to start with. thumbs up for HTC for bringing new tech

I love htc, but regarding the zoe sharing system I can see it not being successful in most places of the world, where internet connection speeds are slow.. good quality photos and videos but I’d prefer my friends and family choosing them manually and sharing them the traditional way, even the very short videos are a pain in the arse to wait for because they are in hd and there’s no way to rewind them or the long ones.. and if you pause them at the beginning in order to wait for them to load, they just don’t load until you hit play.. I would say as a suggestion that zoe should comprise the videos at least a bit whenever it detects slow connection speeds
