HTC One Developer Edition Pre-Orders Live Now

The HTC One pre-orders kicked off yesterday for the regular edition, but users looking for a more open experience can now pre-order the HTC One developer edition direct from HTC.

Unlike many Developer Editions which come weeks after the retail launch, the One Developer Edition release date is set for April 19th, the same day AT&T pre-orders should arrive on doorsteps across the U.S.

As announced earlier this year, the HTC One Developer Edition is unlocked and features an unlocked bootloader. The phone comes in solver only and offers up 64GB of storage for $649. This version of the phone is attractive to developers as well as users who are looking to run custom software on their phones without a locked bootloader.

The HTC One Developer Edition pre-orders started this morning at 10 AM eastern on HTC.com. HTC is only selling the HTC One Developer Edition online to shoppers with a U.S. shipping address.

Users who want to pick up this unlocked beauty should act fast as HTC reportedly has limited quantities of the HTC One Developer edition available at this time.

The HTC One features a 4.7-inch 1080P HD display and an all metal design that is earning praise from early impressions. The phone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB RAM 64GB of Storage and BoomSound front facing speakers. The Developer model is unlocked but supports LTE on AT&T and T-Mobile.

The regular HTC One pre-orders started on AT&T yesterday and are still available to users looking to purchase an HTC One with a two-year contract at the more palatable $199 price, though this is for the 32GB model.

HTC announced the HTC One for Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile but there are rumors of a Verizon HTC One in the works. The HTC One release on Sprint and AT&T is set for April 19th, and T-Mobile’s HTC One release is coming soon, but there is no official date.

The HTC One takes on the Samsung Galaxy S4, which is launching in early May with a 5-inch 1080P display on all major U.S. carriers.
