The Samsung Galaxy S4’s plastic design can’t compete with the beautiful all metal design of the HTC One, and based on the latest leak consumers may see Samsung step outside its plastic shell for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
According to an insider, Samsung may opt to go with a new design material for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, a move which it hopes will complement the Galaxy S4 software features.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is expected in September at IFA 2013, as a followup to the successful Galaxy Note 2. SamMobile’s insider claims that the Galaxy Note 3 will feature a larger display and a new design that delivers a better feel.
According to this insider, a metal Samsung Galaxy S4 design proved popular with Samsung, but the company could not mass produce an all metal Samsung Galaxy S4 in time for the April and May release. The inability to manufacture an all metal Samsung Galaxy S 4 may come back to haunt Samsung.
Samsung will allegedly pack the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 specs with a 6-inch 1080P HD AMOLED display and an Exynos Octa 5 processor with LTE and a 13 MP camera. The insider claims the Galaxy Note 3 will run the latest version of Android, which a September launch indicates as Android 5.0.
Samsung defended the Galaxy S4’s plastic design in the days leading up to the launch, but now that the Galaxy S4 and the HTC One are set to battle it out in stores across the country the company is allegedly worried that the all metal design of the HTC One will outshine the Galaxy S4.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 relies heavily on special software and sensors to delver more software features than the HTC One, but the HTC One’s all metal body is a clear winner in design, based on our time with both smartphones.
A Samsung Galaxy Note 3 concept surfaced recently showing a design which could work as plastic or metal. With this recent rumor in mind it is easy to imagine the design as a metal Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
While the plastic Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 are among the company’s most popular smartphones, Samsung does make several smartphones with aluminum and metal designs. The Samsung Wave series includes a unibody design with aluminum, but doesn’t sacrifice the benefits of a plastic design.
The Samsung Wave 3 is made of brushed aluminum and features a unibody design, similar to the HTC One, but with one major difference. The Samsung Wave 3 allows users to swap in a replaceable battery and offers a Micro SD card slot for adding memory.
The Samsung insider would not comment on the material that Samsung might use in the Galaxy Note 3, but if true we may be able to expect a non plastic Galaxy Note 3.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 may arrive at a special Samsung Unboxed event ahead of IFA 2013 in September. Earlier leaks indicate Samsung is showing off the design of the Galaxy Note 3 to AT&T executives, who may be able to provide feedback about a plastic or metal design.
