ZAGG, the makers of the popular Invisible Shield screen protectors, is now taking email addresses for pre-registration for an upcoming line of Invisible Shield for an unannounced Apple iPhone 5S. The pre-registration page is now part of ZAGG’s website and customers who pre-register will be notified when the iPhone 5S-compatible screen protectors will become available.
News of the screen protector pre-registration was first reported on Phone Arena.
The iPhone 5S screen protector may not take long to arrive after the iPhone 5S debuts on the market. Though there have been conflicting rumors in the past, the most recent intelligence suggests that the iPhone 5S will come with the same design and shape as the iPhone 5, meaning any screen accessory for the iPhone 5 should become forward-compatible with the iPhone 5S.
Little else was disclosed by ZAGG, except the pricing of the screen protector. The accessory product is expected to cost $14.99 at launch. An image of the screen protector was not shown on ZAGG’s website so we don’t know for certain at this time what the final shape of the iPhone 5S will be. Prior rumors suggest that Apple may be looking to embed a fingerprint scanner for security on this model.
It’s still unclear when the iPhone 5S will launch. There have been rumors that Apple may delay the product launch while new rumors suggest that Apple is on track to launch its next generation flagship smartphone this fall, with production beginning this summer. Apple CEO Tim Cook had hinted in the company’s earnings call that new and exciting products would be coming later this year. With WWDC scheduled for next month, Apple is expected to debut iOS 7 and the next version of OS X at that venue, saving the exciting hardware announcements for the company’s fall music-themed event.
