Mophie recently announced another iPhone 5 battery case: the Mophie Juice Pack Plus for iPhone 5. It is aimed at users who need more than double the battery their iPhone 5 can give them.
Mophie claims the new Juice Pack Plus for iPhone 5 gives users an extra 120 percent more battery, which should more than double the battery life of the phone. The new Juice Pack Plus holds a 2100 mAh battery, compared to the 1700 mAh battery inside the Juice Pack Air for iPhone 5 Mophie recently released.
That extra battery should give users an additional 10 hours of 3G talk time, 10 hours of 3G or 4G LTE data usage or 12 more hours of Wi-Fi usage. That’s likely enough to get most users through a day, if not more than a day.
The Mophie Juice Pack Plus for iPhone 5 looks very similar to the Juice Pack Air, but is a bit larger in every way. The Juice Pack Plus is about 1.7mm thicker and taller than the Juice Pack Air, which is likely enough to tell the two apart when side-to-side. The size difference likely won’t matter too much to many users, however.
Surprisingly, despite the larger battery and slightly thicker case, the Juice Pack Plus weighs the same as the Juice Pack Air. Both iPhone 5 battery cases weigh 2.68 ounces, which is still lighter than the 3.95 ounce iPhone 5.
Because of the size of the Mophie Juice Pack Plus the battery case has no cutouts for the volume buttons, power button or mute switch. Instead the case incorporates buttons into its design. The replacement buttons worked well on the Juice Pack Air, and should work just as well on the Juice Pack Plus.
The Mophie Juice Pack Plus is available now for $129.99, costing $30 more than the Juice Pack Air. Users can only order the black model right now, but the case also comes in white and red, both of which will ship later this month.
