GTA Online Release Time Coming SoonWe’ve reached out to Rockstar and Xbox’s Major Nelson for an official GTA Online release time, but all sources remain quiet about exactly when users can go online and download the GTA 5 patch which will unlock the online mode. It could come at midnight, but it’s more likely that the GTA 5 Online patch will come in early morning hours of Pacific time.

While we wait for the GTA Online gameplay to arrive, we can go in-depth with a look at what it’s like to play GTA Online. Combined with a response from Rockstar Support that GTA oNline will support 16 players at release, you should be able to get amped up about the new GTA Online experience.

Characters Dependent on Grandparents and Activities

Players can tweak the appearance and clothing of their GTA Online character, but when it comes to getting started Rockstar isn’t giving you a facial matching tool like EA might. Instead gamers pick four grandparents and the game delivers a character to the user.

Your online activity will determine your player abilities.

Your online activity will determine your player abilities.

When it comes to activities, the in-game character’s abilities come from what they do online in a given 24-hour period. So look for some strategy about what you need to do to get better, including a range of activities.

You’ll Need a lot of Cash

There is a reason Rockstar is selling in-game cash for real world money, as it looks like gamers will need a lot of cash to explore GTA Online to its fullest.

You’ll need plenty of cash in GTA Online.

Rockstar previously said that the GTA Online experience is tilted towards most players only gaining cash in-game, and this first hand account of GTA Online backs that up with talk of missions and robberies galore, but you’ll definitely need to put an effort into earning money to buy vehicles guns and real estate. Possibly by playing the GTA 5 stock market.

Just don’t forget to keep that cash in a bank since any cash you are carrying could go missing if a player kills you in the online world. One report indicates you’ll need to pay $100 of in-game cash to play in passive mode, a game type that prevents other players from killing you.

Level Up, Play With Friends & Get Around

The GTA Online experience is one you can play with your Xbox Live and PSN friends or you can play online with random players down the line.

Leveling up will take place with Reputation Points which help users unlock items and activities as well as JP, which may be Job Points, which add up as well.

When you want to get around GTAPlace shares one thing that will help make navigation easier. Tap the Back button on Xbox 360 or Select on PS3 to pull up a Quick GPS function to set waypoints faster.

Right now… my only concern is how much in-game cash is needed. Will it be really hard to obtain in the first place? If so, then things could get tedious and somtimes frustating. Or maybe this could be a good thing. Cant wait to see how careful or careless players will be with that $100 rule in the air. See ya’ll online…

Rockstar’s HQ is located in NYC, so midnight for them would be EST. It is currently a few minutes past 8PM, so we have a few hours left to see.

Well the actual creators of GTA are Rockstar North and they are located in Edinburgh Scotland. And it’s currently 1:38am Oct. 1st there.

Yes, you are correct, but Rockstar Games owns Rockstar North. Rockstar Games is the HQ of the whole operation, and they are located in New York City. Take Two Interactive (the publisher, developer, and distributor of video games) which is also owned by Rockstar, is located in New York City as well. Read the article I just wrote if you’re interested. Rockstar made a statement that they will be releasing the Online version of GTA 5 on October 1st, and that you will be able to access it at 7AM EST.

but im thinkin 12:01am eastern time of US simply because rockstar knows they have millions of customers waiting for online launch and any other regular games release 12:01am :) considering 4 time zones times will vary litterally plus giving the fact some people bought it for online use single play can be boring at times. all i can say is they better lauch it before someone tries to sue them for false advertisement the disk packaging clearly states online multiplayer 2-16 players lmao

ess to GTA OnlineAccess to Grand Theft Auto Online is free with your copy of Grand Theft Auto V. On October 1st there will be a small downloadable Title Update released on PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE. Upon installation of that Title Update, direct access to begin GTA Online will be unlocked in your GTAV gajme menu. You will be able to jump right into GTA Online via the 4th (bottom) slot in your GTAV character wheel. We’ve received many questions asking for a specific confirmation of what exact time GTA Online will be available but of course this is contingent on both Title Updates becoming available on each console’s network. As a general timeframe, we do expect the Title Update to become available on PSN and Xbox LIVE starting around 7AM ET tomorrow morning, and your best bet is to stay tuned throughout the day here at the Rockstar Newswire and by following us on Twitter and Facebook where we will be keeping everyone updated.
