HTC One Max Heading to Verizon “This Holiday Season”

By  |  3 Comments

Verizon has officially confirmed that the HTC One max will be heading to Big Red later this year. The carrier sent out a tweet saying that the new phablet-style smartphone ”is coming to Verizon this holiday season” — no word of a specific release date or time window was disclosed.

Furthermore, Verizon has put up a landing page for the new phone on its website, teasing the new device and giving a quick summary of what users can expect when they get their hands on the One max. Below that, you can enter in your email address to get a notification when the device is officially launched.

Verizon branding on the new phone doesn’t seem to be all that invasive. There’s a simple Verizon logo on the front, down at the bottom, and the carrier’s 4G LTE logo sits on the back. Other than that, you won’t see any other Verizon branding, besides the usual bloatware that you’ll probably see when you boot up the handset.

The HTC One max was officially announced yesterday, and it’s HTC’s largest smartphone yet, with a display that measures in at a chunky 5.9 inches with a full 1080p HD resolution. We’re guessing this is HTC’s answer to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3, which was unveiled several weeks ago, and it looks to be the first worthy competitor to the Galaxy Note series. However, one thing that makes the One max stand out is its new fingerprint sensor on the back, that can unlock the device, as well as launch specific apps based on which finger you scan.

The One max follows in the footsteps of the company’s original HTC One smartphone, which was released earlier this year. It features the same aluminum shell as the One and One mini, but the company made the back cover removable this time around, allowing access to a microSD card slot, but still blocking access to the 3,300 mAh battery.

The device runs on a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, with 32GB of internal storage and the same 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera that is featured in the original One. There are some slight differences, though. The One max includes the power button on the side, making it the first HTC device in a while where we’ve seen the power button not on the top of the device. The One max also doesn’t include optical image stabilization this time around, but it still has the IR blaster found in the original One.

No official word on when we’ll see the One max hit the US market, but Verizon is the first US carrier to at least announce availability. We should be hearing about a solid release date sometime in the future, but for now, all we know is that the phone will arrive in time for the holiday season.

I’ll pass. I’m thrilled with my note 3! I have had HTC in the past and I will never go back! Note 3 is the best imo.

That’s crazy talk! ;-)~ HTC One/Mini/Max are so infinately better than the latest Samsungs (IMHO)… Not sure what HTC devices you’ve had, but the One series is night and day compared to previous HTC releases.

I’m intrigued, but ultimately think it’s too big for my taste. My HTC One is perfect for my hands/pockets and I have NEVER owned a better Android device.
