iPhone 6 Concept Shows Off Rumored Features

Published

on

While we wait for the eventual Apple iPhone 6 release later on this year, designers have taken it upon themselves to come up with their own versions of Apple’s rumored 2014 iPhone. And while we’ve seen a number of concepts emerge in recent days, the latest iPhone 6 concept brings rumors together and delivers an iPhone with a larger display.

iPhone 6 rumors have started to emerge at an alarming rate, detailing everything from a supposed launch window to the size of the rumored device’s display. And while we’ve seen a ton of rumors seep to the surface, we still have no idea what the actual iPhone 6 will look like. Sure, we’ve seen leaked molds, schematics, and cases, but none of them have been able to paint an exact picture of the iPhone 6’s design. And that’s where designers like Martin Hajek come in.

Designers and Apple fans love to come up with their own ideas for Apple’s iPhone, ahead of launch. Some iPhone 6 concepts are based on fantasy and wishful thinking while others are based on actual iPhone 6 rumors. Hajek’s new iPhone 6 concept is based on exactly that, real life iPhone 6 rumors.

His new concept takes an alleged iPhone 6 schematics into account and he delivers a breathtaking, realistic look at what the real iPhone 6 could look like when it’s released down the road. These new photos not only offer a new glimpse at a possible iPhone 6, but they depict it next to an iPhone 6c concept that he has created.

The iPhone 6c is unlikely given that we haven’t seen any rumors emerge and given the chatter about iPhone 5c sales, but that’s not what prospective iPhone 6 should be focused on here. Rather, it’s the other device, the iPhone 6 concept with a metal casing that is absolutely stunning.

Hajek’s new renders are a continuation of the concept that he, and Nowhereelse released last week. This iPhone 6 concept shows buyers a sleek looking device that comes with an extremely thin design, rounded edges, a large edge-to-edge display, and the change to the volume and power controls that we’ve seen depicted in a couple of recent leaks.

While Hajek’s version of the iPhone 6 may not look exactly like Apple’s version of the device, it’s the closest that consumers are going to get until the real iPhone 6 is released later on this year.

In recent weeks, iPhone 6 rumors have begun pinpointing everything from its screen size to its release date to its camera technology. Unsurprisingly, the iPhone 6 is expected to feature a number of upgrades that the iPhone 5s simply does not have.

iPhone 6 rumors almost exclusively point to an iPhone 6 with a larger display. Since last year, rumors have pointed to two iPhone 6 models. One model is said to be between 4.5-inches and 4.7-inches in size, similar to the concept seen here. The other iPhone 6 is thought to be somewhere around 5.5-inches or 5.7-inches with HD resolution. If real, it would likely be marketed as a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 competitor.

A 5.5-inch iPhone 6 may not arrive in time to compete with the Galaxy Note 4 on day one.

A report from Reuters casts doubt on Apple’s supposed approach. The report claims that Apple may have delayed the larger iPhone and that it will be the 4.5-inch to 4.7-inch iPhone and that makes an appearance later this year. A more recent report from The Commercial Times suggests that the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 may have been pushed into 2015.

The biggest iPhone 6 leak of the month comes from Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, shared by MacRumors. Kuo accurately predicted many of last year’s iPhone 5s features and while he is not 100% on rumors, he is considered to be very reliable. Here is how he sees Apple’s iPhone 6 features panning out:

  • iPhone 6 Screen Size and Resolution – 4.7- inch (1334 x 750) 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080).
  • iPhone 6 Release Dates – 4.7-inch in September, 5.5-inch in Holiday season.
  • iPhone 6 Design – Power button on right, narrower bezels, larger iPhone 6 as two-hands needed.
  • iPhone 6 Camera – No major Megapixel bump, but added image stability.
  • iPhone 6 Specs – A8, 1GB RAM, Touch ID, 6.5mm to 7mm thickness, NFC.

Apple’s next iPhone will likely be accompanied by Apple’s next iOS update, rumored to be iOS 8. iOS 8 rumors point to a piece of software that won’t look much different than iOS 7 but should deliver a number of big changes to the software’s feature-set. Apple’s new iOS software is rumored to be coming with VoLTE support for the iPhone, new health related features that could tie in with Apple’s rumored iWatch, and more.

The iOS 8 update may deliver VoLTE support which means better sounding, battery friendly calls and talk for every carrier and surf on Verizon.

iOS 8 is expected to debut alongside a new version of OS X at Apple’s annual WWDC developer conference in San Francisco. Apple recently announced that the conference will take place between June 2nd and June 6th, with the keynote likely taking place on June 2nd. The company historically has used the platform to showcase new products though in recent years, the event has been limited to the company’s new software innovations rather than new hardware.

iPhone 6 release date rumors point to an arrival in the fall, rather than in the summer.
