New Moto X+1 Leaks Emerge Ahead of Release Date Cory Gunther08/18/2014 This year Motorola has done a rather excellent job keeping its new devices for 2014 a complete secret, but with only a few weeks left before the Moto X+1 release date (or Moto X2) we’re finally starting to see more details emerge. The original Moto X leaked on video months and months ahead of the release date, possibly one of the earliest device leaks that ended up accurate we’ve seen in a long time. That didn’t happen this year, because the Moto X+1 announcement is scheduled for September 4th, and we barely know anything about it.Advertisement Read: Moto MAXX Rumors Emerge along with Moto X+1 Release Details That being said, an array of benchmark results have appeared, as well as a few pictures that could possibly be Motorola’s next smartphone set to be announced and released inside of September. A few photos emerged last month, but this weekend a brand new set of photos show the brand new, bigger Moto X+1 alongside the Moto X from 2013. Courtesy of HelloMotoHK. Advertisement At this point we’re not 100% sure what Motorola has planned for its September launch event, but the invite teased a new Moto X, a new Moto X, the Moto 360 smartwatch, and some sort of bluetooth ear accessory.Advertisement This isn’t the first Moto X+1 rumor or sighting as of late, but the images above and below are giving us our best look yet at Motorola’s new smartphone for 2014. One thing worth noting is these differ from the images we saw last month, meaning there may be different options available, or one was the Moto G2. What you see below is reportedly the all new Moto X+1 (or Moto X2) which is slightly larger than the prior version. Rumor has it the Moto X+1 will grow from the 4.7-inch screen last year up to 5.2-inches, add front facing speakers, and get a huge boost in specs and overall performance, without making the device much larger. Thanks to sleek bezels around the display we’re seeing a device not much larger than the original from 2013, which is great news for those who don’t want a massive device, but would still like to enjoy a large HD display. Here’s what rumors suggest will be onboard the new Moto X+1.Advertisement Moto X+1 Specs (Rumored) 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080p Full HD Display 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM 16 or 32GB of storage, and micro-SD expansion available Android 4.4.4 KitKat 12 Megapixel Rear Camera, 2.1 front Dual Front-facing speakers 2,900 mAh battery Custom colors, wood, leather, engravings and more at MotoMaker.com So far the exact design, details, or customization options have yet to fully surface, but most likely we can expect the same as 2013 if not more. Rumors of leather options coming, and even a fully customizable shortcut button on the back of the Moto X+1 smartphone. The Moto X will be available on all major US carriers. The Moto X logo on back will be actionable, for certain tasks like unlocking the device or quick launching the camera. This was spotted in several leaks, but has yet to be confirmed. As it stands the new Moto X+1 has much improved specs and hardware from last year, which was the highly popular customizable phones only downfall. This year it looks like Motorola will have a premium flagship device to take on the Galaxy S5, HTC One M8, and LG G3, all for a lower price with more customization.
