This isn’t surprising considering the Galaxy S5 display is 5-inches, not much bigger than the screen on the smaller iPhone 6.Advertisement The iPhone 6 4.7-inch is taller and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is much bigger than the Galaxy S4. The photo above shows that the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is much larger than the Galaxy S4. It is taller and wider than the Galaxy S4 thanks to the massive screen and large bezels. In fact the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is taller than the Galaxy Note 3 based on our mock-up. It looks like the iPhone 6 may be slightly thinner than the Galaxy S4. iPhone 6 vs Galaxy S4 Size Screens The Galaxy S4 display delivers a 1920 x 1080 resolution, and even though the Galaxy S5 display looks better and uses less power the Galaxy S4 display is no slouch. The display looks quite good and a respectable 441 pixels-per-inch (ppi). DisplayMate describes benefit of a high ppi rating for the Galaxy S4 as, “People with 20/20 Vision cannot resolve the individual pixels on a 441 PPI display for viewing distances of 7.8 inches or more, which is exceedingly close for viewing a 5.0 inch display.” Here we see a 4.7-inch iPhone 6, 5-inch Galaxy S4 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6.Advertisement The iPhone 6 resolution is still up in the air. Early reports pointed to a shared 1,704 x 960 resolution that would mean 416 ppi on the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 356 ppi on the iPhone 6 with a 5.5-inch display. Recently reports suggest Apple could be planning even higher resolutions. This is “Retina” at eight inches or more from your face on a 4.7-inch model and 10-inches or more on the 5.5-inch model. 9to5Mac reports that iOS 8 includes hints of a 1,472 x 828 resolution or even 2,208 x 1,242 resolution, though that pixel-bursting iPhone 6 spec is less likely. If the iPhone 6 arrives with these higher resolutions the pixels-per-inch could be as high as 539 on a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 460 on the 5.5-inch iPhone 6. Time will tell how much of an upgrade Apple is able to deliver and how it looks in person. These resolutions allow a “Retina” resolution as close as 5-inches to your eyes.Advertisement We expect a Sapphire iPhone 6 display on at least some of the models, which would deliver a screen that is hard to scratch and that could handle drops better than chemically strengthened glass. iPhone 6 vs Galaxy S4 Specs Here is a quick look at how the Galaxy S4 and iPhone 6 specs compare. These are the biggest differences between these devices. A removable back with access to a Micro SD card and removable battery are key parts of the Galaxy S4 design. Metal or Plastic – The Phone 6 uses an aluminum design with curved edges and the Galaxy S4 uses plastic with straight plastic trim on the edges. Removable Back – You can pull the back off the Galaxy S4 and attach a wireless charger, new case or other accessory. The iPhone 6 back will not likely come off. Add Storage or a New Battery – When you remove the back you can add more storage with a cheap Micro SD card and swap in a new battery when you run out of power.
