You should not buy the Xbox One right now, unless you like overpaying for your new console. With dozens of great games on the market you may think this is the best time to buy the Xbox One, but if you wait several days you can save big on your new console and score a free game too.

Microsoft launched the Xbox One just about a year ago, and now that there is a huge library of games, and plenty of Xbox One games deals to help you add to your collection at a reduced rate it looks like the best time to buy an Xbox One.

If you buy the Xbox One today through November 1st you will pay $50 too much, which is the cost of a game or a controller that you could add by waiting just a few days.

If you still need to choose between the Xbox One and the PS4, you’ll need to do your research on the comparison. Many recent games run at a higher resolution on the PS4. Each system still includes some exclusives, but overall the biggest games area available on both platforms.

The Xbox One features Forza and Sunset Overdrive while the PS4 includes The Last of US Remastered and MLB The Show 14 as exclusives.

This warning to not buy the Xbox One right now isn’t about which console is better though. It’s about saving you $50 or more on your Xbox One purchase without the need to wait for Black Friday.

Microsoft confirmed a $50 off Xbox One deal that starts on November 2nd, dropping the price of the Xbox One to $350. That’s available to everyone across a large number of Xbox One bundles with no hoops to jump through.

It’s as simple as waiting until November 2nd to buy the Xbox One. If you do that you’ll save $50. This even works on the Sunset Overdrive, Assassin’s Creed Unity and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Xbox On bundles that include a digital copy of the game at that price.

If you buy the Xbox One this week or weekend you’re passing up on $50 in savings that you can use to buy games or accessories for your new console. The biggest thing to remember is this is a sure thing. There are no limited quantities, flash sales or catches to the deal.

Starting on November 2nd you can walk into any major store that sells the Xbox One and save $50 right off the bat. This is well ahead of any Xbox One Black Friday deals, and at this price you may not even want to wait until Black Friday’s limited quantities and long lines.

If you purchased an Xbox One in the last two weeks you should check to see what the store policies are about price-drops. Some stores will refund the $50 difference without any hassle, while others may require that you return and re-buy the Xbox One.

If you purchased the Xbox One on a credit card you can file a claim for price protection — up to 90 days out. This will deliver a refund to you or the price difference. You can see several of the names for these services from Discover, MasterCard and Citi on NerdWallet. If you aren’t sure, call the number on the back of your credit card and ask about it.

At the end of the day, the best time to buy an Xbox One is just a few days away. You’ll save $50 off the price, can get a bundle that includes a free game and you’re upgrading right in time for a busy fall release packed with hot new games. It just so happens that the next four days are the worst time to buy an Xbox One.

    Nothings set in stone here. By that reasoning you should not buy anything unless its black friday. Kinda seems silly to miss out on all that gaming for $50. You should buy now. And then return it, and buy again. :)
