Microsoft isn’t that much closer to releasing Halo 5: The Guardians for its Xbox One console just yet, but that isn’t stopping leakers from revealing crucial Halo 5 details ahead of the HaloFest event later today. Thanks to a leaked video we now know that sprinting will make a return in the Halo 5 multiplayer, for example.

A video of some early Halo 5: The Guardians footage appeared on the internet over the weekend. In that video we got our first look at the slightly upgraded interface that players can expect in the game. It also included footage of Halo 5 Spartans sprinting, something that could seriously affect multiplayer game play. As the video footage was leaked, Microsoft and developer 343 Industries didn’t confirm or deny the video, at first.

All of that changed yesterday when 343 Industries’ Bonnie Ross started confirming things about the game. According to Ross, Halo 5: The Guardians players can expect that there will be no movement penalties when using a rifle with a scope or zoom. Flinching is out of the game to. Ross also went a step further saying that “Leaks are always fun,” in a separate message.

Ross’ tweets confirm what many had already suspected. Microsoft will give Xbox One players their first look at Halo 5: The Guardians during tonight’s HaloFest. HaloFest, is a large-scale celebration of all things Halo related. Besides providing more details about Halo 5, Microsoft has plans to screen the first episode of the Halo: Nightfall television series it produced over the last year. Halo: The Master Chief Collection is expected to feature heavily in tonight’s festivities.

For those who aren’t able to attend HaloFest in person, Microsoft and a few partners will offer a couple of different streaming options. On the Xbox 360 and Xbox One users will be able to stream footage from HaloFest beginning at 8PM Pacific Time. That’s 11 P.M. EST. For those who aren’t on their console, IGN and Xbox.com will offer streams. So too will Twitch, the video streaming site with apps available on the iPhone, iPad and devices running Google’s Android operating system.

Those on site at HaloFest will be able to play the Halo 5: The Guardians multiplayer beta before anyone else. Microsoft has plans to roll out the Halo 5: The Guardians multiplayer beta to a wider audience later on, but there’s a catch. First, Halo 5: The Guardians will only be for those who have an Xbox One; everyone with the Xbox 360 will need to upgrade before they play Master Chief’s latest adventure. Halo 5: The Guardians appears to be Microsoft’s big anchor game for next fall. It’s banking on users wanting to play Halo 5 so much that they rush out and purchase an Xbox One.

Second, Xbox One owners will need Halo: The Master Chief Collection before they can participate in the game. Buying the game is the only way Microsoft has confirmed that players will be able to get into the beta. Halo: The Master Chief Collection also includes every game in the series to feature Master Chief John 117. Microsoft has also packed other goodies into Halo: The Master Chief Collection. For example, it’ll come with access to Halo Nightfall too. Again, that’s the television series that Microsoft says sets up for what we’ll see in Halo 5: The Guardians when it does arrive. The multiplayer and campaign modes for Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4 are included too.

Tonight’s HaloFest will conclude with the launch of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. It goes on sale tonight at midnight officially for $60. Those who’ve pre-ordered the game over Xbox Live will find that their digital copies unlock at 3AM Eastern Standard Time.
