Epic Video Reveals All Ahead of Halo 5 Release Date

Microsoft, makers of the Xbox One entertainment console, and developer 343 Industries continue to prep Xbox One owners and potential buyers ahead of the Halo 5 release date next month. Last week, the two released an epic video that showcases everything users can expect in the Halo 5 Limited Collector’s Edition Xbox One and more.

Microsoft posted the Halo 5 video to YouTube and it covers everything potential buyers could want know as far as their purchase is concerned. Halo 5: Guardians is this year’s entry in the popular first-person shooter franchise that’s exclusive to the Xbox One. Besides improved graphics and a new story, the game has new co-operative multiplayer mechanics and a massive new multiplayer mode. The Halo 5 release date is October 27th.

Last week Microsoft and 343 Industries shared details about the Requisition mechanic that’ll be in Halo 5’s multiplayer experience.

The video starts with Microsoft’s Larry Hyrb and 343 Industries’ Josh Holmes detailing Halo 5: Guardians Limited Edition. There’s a Steelbook case, and a package of Dossier cards for each of the teams featured in the Halo 5 story: Fire team Osiris and Blue Team. Another packet included in the Halo 5 Guardians Limited Edition package contains a physical copy of the orders provide to Agent Jameson Locke. Locke leads Fire team Osiris and is tasked with hunting down Master Chief John 117. This version of Halo 5 comes with a metal Guardian statue that players have to assemble themselves. The two video hosts touch on it briefly before moving on to two more key extras included in the $99 Halo 5: Guardians Limited Edition.

Any one who purchases Halo 5: Guardians Limited Edition gets 14 days of Xbox Live absolutely free of charge. Buyers also get access to the Fall of Reach animated series and a code for unlocking items in the multiplayer’s requisition system. There are 14 different Requisition Packs unlocked with this code.

The video continues with details about the $249.99 Halo 5: Guardians Limited Collector’s Edition. This version of the game includes the Steelbook case and other extras, but drops the physical copy of Halo 5: Guardians. Microsoft says it did this so that users can pre-download the game ahead of release day. According to this video, digital downloads for the game will start on October 20th. The statue included with the Halo 5: Guardians Limited Collector’s Edition has both John 117 and Spartan Locke with guns raised. The statue splits in half.

Next there’s the Halo 5: Guardians Limited Edition Xbox One Bundle. Microsoft has shown off this $499 console bundle before. It comes with all the extras of the Limited Edition, plus a 1TB Xbox One with etchings and a custom paint job to match the armor that Spartan Jameson Locke wears in the game. There’s also a custom controller. Microsoft has customized the sounds of the Xbox One in this bundle so that they’re more in tune-in with the Halo universe. Ejecting discs and turning the console on or off has sounds from the Halo games. There’s a custom class Fotus Armor code for multiplayer boxed with this bundle too.

In all, the video runs a solid 8 minutes. Also discussed are the Halo 5 custom controllers and a special pair of Astro A40 headphones launching along with the game.

Halo 5: Guardians is available for pre-order now at retailers like GameStop and Microsoft’s own online store. Halo 5: Guardians will act as the main attraction in Microsoft’s holiday games line-up. The company is hoping that heavy investment in its own franchise will mean higher sales of its console the world-over. So far, Sony’s PS4 has lead home console sales, but it has a light selection of exclusive titles this holiday season.
