Just as video game developer and publisher Ubisoft said it would, the Assassin’s Creed Syndicate DLC Release date has arrived. Starting today, anyone with a copy of the game on Xbox One and PS4 can purchase and download the Jack The Ripper add-on for a bit more story and fun in the game’s open-world experience.
Ubisoft revealed the Jack The Ripper DLC roughly a month before the game launched, but it wasn’t until last week that the company provided potential buyers with a story trailer for the add-on content. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is set in London, England during the Industrial Revolution. Like previous games in the series, players use a mix of stealth and all out brutality to keep members of the Templar Order in check.
The Jack The Ripper DLC for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is a completely new, but smaller campaign set within London years after the story has concluded. A killer is on the loose, and that killer seems to be fixated on Evie Fry, one of the two twins and protagonists from the main game.
The Jack The Ripper content for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate costs $14.99 in the Xbox Store. Presumably, the version of the add-on for PS4 will cost the same amount, but it’s not available on Sony’s PlayStation Store website yet. Users will need to have a decent amount of storage available for the add-on content; the Xbox One version of the Jack The Ripper shows that users need around 17GB of free storage on their console. The PS4 version of the add-on should arrive within the next few hours if it isn’t available directly through the PS4 already. Ubisoft said last week that buyers of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate for PC can expect that version of the downloadable content to launch on December 22nd.
Anyone that purchased the Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Season Pass doesn’t have to purchase Jack The Ripper separately. The Season Pass unlocks all the content that Ubisoft plans to release for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate for a single price. The Season Pass alone is $29.99. There’s more included besides this new DLC. Add-on outfits for the game’s characters and XP boosts both temporary and permanent or available. There’s some exclusive missions and outfits too.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Gold Edition includes the Season Pass. As such, those who purchased that version don’t have to purchase Jack The Ripper separately either.
The description on the Xbox website of the Jack The Ripper DLC adds a bit more context to the game add-on’s campaign. “Twenty years after Evie and Jacob Frye have taken London from Templar control, the city is plagued by a series of the most horrific crimes Scotland Yard has ever seen.,” the description begins.”
The description promises players new combat skills for Evie that she’s picked up while working with the Indian Assassin’s Order. The description does confirm what many already suspected, that Jacob Frye wouldn’t be featured in the downloadable content.
To celebrate the launch of the new content, Ubisoft is hosting an Assassin’s Creed Celebration Special on the Assassin’s Creed Twitch stream. The company is promising, gameplay from Jack The Ripper, gifts and some special guests to talk about the game. If nothing else, it’s a great opportunity for those without a season pass to judge the add-on content before making their decision on purchasing it.
GameStop has new copies of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate for Xbox One and PS4 on sale this week for $10, bringing the price to $49.99. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Gold Edition is $79.99, $10 less than its normal price. The Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Season Pass isn’t on sale.
