It's 2015 and if you're making a sports game, you need to have an online multiplayer mode. Preferably one that works. 

EA's Rory McIlroy PGA Tour will come with revamped multiplayer experience that features Online Head-to-Head that allows you to choose from Arcade, Tour, or Classic. You can also play in Ranked Matches if you're taking the game a little more seriously. 

Now, instead of feeling like you're playing the game alone, players play the course simultaneously. EA says that for "the first time ever, other golfers will be rendered in the environment. Players will see (in real-time) when their competitors move or swing, and their golf ball will be visible flying through the air and rolling on the terrain."

There will also be other features like Online Tournaments that players can enter to test their skills against players around the world. It looks like EA is really focusing on a deep multiplayer experience here and that's got us excited. Golf is meant to be played with other people.
