We’ve not even a week into 2015 which means that we haven’t seen any of the top devices from this year emerge from hiding. Companies like Apple, HTC and Samsung typically wait a few months before delivering the goods. For now, consumers must contend with the avalanche of rumors coming out of CES 2015 in Las Vegas.

Some of you can’t wait for February, March or April to arrive. You need a new smartphone right now. Fortunately for you, 2014’s crop of smartphones was excellent and it yielded some of the best phones ever made. Choosing between them is not going to be easy for those of you that aren’t familiar with the landscape and that’s why we want to point out our top choices for this month.

We feel like the devices listed here deliver the best, all-around package for this month and this month alone.

With that in mind, here are the five best phones for January, 2015.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 is a massive step up from last year's Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It features a beautiful display with new S Pen features and a fantastic camera. While it's on the expensive side, it's a device that is in the top tier of smartphones in January. We actually like it better than the Samsung Galaxy S5.

Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 arrived in October with a ton of hype and it's as good as advertised. It offers you a massive 5.7-inch Quad HD display, an improved design that combines plastic with metal, a camera with Optical Image Stabilization, and a speedy processor that's capable of providing excellent multitasking and gaming.

We haven't seen any massive Galaxy Note 4 price drops emerge just yet but we should start to see the Galaxy Note 4 price drop as we push into the new year. Take a look at the Galaxy Note 4 before buying your next smartphone.
