iOS 7 Jailbreak: Stay Away from iOS 7.0.6 for Now
Apple released another minor iOS 7 update today for iPhone and iPad in the form of iOS 7.0.6, which fixes SSL connection verifications. This means that Apple included some security fixes with this update. Granted, we don’t know yet if this patches up the iOS 7 jailbreak, but iOS developer MuscleNerd says to stay away for now, as this looks to be an important update for the jailbreak.
UPDATE: Evasi0n7 has been updated with iOS 7.0.6 support, so you’re good to go!
While we’re still waiting on iOS 7.1 to hit the masses, Apple is still working on iOS 7.0 and has released the sixth minor update for iOS 7. It’s only a 35MB download, but it comes with security fixes, which may or may not patch up iOS 7 jailbreak exploits, but now more than ever is a good time to be cautious.
The update doesn’t seem like a big one anyway, unless you’re a security freak who needs the latest security updates. We haven’t dug in just yet on what is all included with iOS 7.0.6, but it likely doesn’t fix a lot of the bugs that users have been having trouble with recently, including a buggy camera and a broken multitasking tray. iOS 7.0.6 likely doesn’t fix these issues.
Larger bug fixes like this will likely come with the release of iOS 7.1, which is rumored to be arriving at some point next month. Another beta will likely release, along with a Gold Master, before we actually see the public launch of the update. This is probably when Apple will do it’s thing and patch up the Evasi0n 7 jailbreak for good (if it hasn’t already done it in iOS 7.0.6).
We’ll update this post when we hear more from the iOS developers about the jailbreak status of iOS 7.0.6, but for now it’s best to steer clear.

sorry to post this here, but i upgraded to 7.0.4 over the air and then saw that this type of upgrade is likely to make the jailbreak fail…is there a way to re-apply the 7.0.4 upgrade via iTunes *without* having to do a full restore? i am so tired of getting all of my music, photos and other data back on, which doesn’t usually get put back with a full restore.

This security update is very important. If you don’t upgrade, anyone can pretend to be any HTTPS site (such as your bank). If you use public wifi, anyone can man-in-the-middle attack you and pretend to be your bank, or your secure email provider, or anyone at all. If you don’t upgrade, you have only yourself to blame if all your money and your identity get stolen. https://www.imperialviolet.org/2014/02/22/applebug.html

theo, so you know for a fact that 7.0.6 does not shut down the jailbreak? in theory, would upgrading to 7.0.6 via iTunes eliminate the problem that has caused the jailbreak to fail on an over-the-air upgraded version of iOS?

so would updating to 7.0.6 via iTunes make the jailbreak work properly again, or is the fact that i updated to 7.0.4 over the air the determining factor in *not* making it work properly (or so i hear…at least that there is a good chance that it’ll go into restore mode in the process.)?

I have an Iphone 5s on 7.0.4 that had a previous jailbreak. I am currently jailbroken on iOs 7.0.6, after I did a full restore and using the new version of Evasi0n. No problems here. Your mileage may very.
For some reason I prefer updating from Itunes.
