Apparent Good News From The FAA

Published

on

In an eWeek interview, Dick Hill, the FAA’s program manager for Aircraft Fire and Cabin Safety Research says that tests on lithium-ion batteries show they are “no more hazardous than any other battery-operated piece of equipment.”

Apparently the FAA feels confident that if there were such a fire flight attendants shold be able to control it jusing fire extinguishers. I just have to add that I love this quote though, “We wouldn’t like this happening over and over… You’re better off not having fires.”

So, this looks like good news at the moment for mobile tech flyers, although the skies may not be completely clear. Hill also says, “The next generation of batteries coming out are fuel cells, and we’re very concerned about that.”
