I’ve got an eo i7210 Ultra-Mobile PC!

Well, I was finally able to get a hold of a TabletKiosk eo i7210 and I have to say that my initial impressions are very favorable. It feels very good in the hands. Although I wouldn’t use it to take handwritten notes, this Origami device feels the most polished and comfortable to use than any other ones I’ve had an opportunity to use. It is also quite snappy – much more so than I imagined.

What do I like about it so far? I love the built-in stand. I wish more origami and slate tablet pcs had that feature. I also like the locking power switch that basically turns off all the buttons and touch screen to keep anything from getting accidentally paused or turned off. Looks like they learned a thing or two from the music players in this regards. I mentioned above about the i7210 running a bit snappy – I counted 44 processes on boot up and about 250 mb ram used – that is really, really good.

What don’t I like so far? I can’t get rotation to work; and I’m getting just about 2 hours 15 minutes on battery with bluetooth off, and brightness all the way down. Swapping out batteries can be done, but it is very cumbersome.

Fortunately, I’ll be holding on to this one for quite a while, so I’ll periodically give you my impressions. I won’t be doing an InkShow on this eo i7210 since Dennis has done such a good job covering the unit, but I do plan on spending some time covering it from a entertainment perspective, especially as kids are concerned, so stay tuned.

The specs of my eo i7210 are:

  • 1ghz Pentium M
  • 1gb ram
  • 60gb hard drive
  • touch screen – 80 gram digitizer
  • docking station
  • 3 cell battery
  • built-in camera
  • carrying case
