Windows SideShow .NET Framework Components 1.0 (Beta) released

Are you a developer looking for that new mobile pc market opportunity? You might want to take a look at the Windows SideShow area. Windows Side Show devices are small PDA like devices that are attached to bags, Media Center remotes, laptop cases, in Windows Mobile Phone devices, etc, that provide snips of data from the parent computer like email, calendar, contacts, media, etc. A cool implementation I saw at CES had a SideShow device embedded in a bag that let a person browse their RSS feeds, email, and calendar appointments without needing to connected to the computer. Another Side Show gadget I saw implemented at Mobile Connections let me run a PowerPoint presentation using a Treo 700W SmartPhone.

Developers interested in building gadgets to run in these Windows SideShow devices should start by downloading the SideShow .NET Framework Components 1.0 beta.
