Will Children Still Write With A Pen In The Future?

Published

on

Interesting article in the Wall Street Journal by Jason Fry. Although he doesn’t see that bright a future for Tablet PCs, he is wondering if the next generation of children will discard pen and paper in favor of keyboards and PDAs. Intriguingly he thinks that one of the negative reactions to touchscreen onscreen keyboards-that they have no tactile feedback-will change once children begin working with them as opposed to the keyboards we are all accustomed to. The thesis behind his article is bascially that it takes more desire for old dogs to learn new tricks, while the young pups take to whatever is there-without the benefit of prior knowledge or experience.
