"Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag" – Yeahhhhhh!

Published

on

That’s my best James Brown. I have to ask : Are fetish’s contagious? I got a real kick out of Rob’s post about his little (understatement) Mobile Bag fetish. Poor Kathi. As I watched, I thought I had the opposite problem. Like my cars, I use them till stuff starts falling off. Well that day came a week or so ago. My trusty Targus backpack gave it up and I luckily found my 160G portable HDD in the back seat of my car, not on the concrete of a parking lot somewhere. I have to admit, it had served me well for years of commuting and even a motorcycle accident (which I think caused the eventual failure). Well, I happened to be in Jacksonville, Florida one day last week and while in Best Buy picked up the Targus Brilliance Messenger bag. I’m hooked. This thing has more pockets and hiding places than any bag I have ever seen. I just now found a zip out bottle holder on the side. Very cool. It was at the moment an impulse buy. I had not shopped around for bags at all. I figured that if I got it home and did not like it, I would be back for a return. No return will be necessary.

This notebook case features a protective MP3 player pocket with headphone port and contains numerous storage compartments for media such as CDs, cell phones and PDAs. The side magnetic pocket, gives easy access to pens and pencils while traveling. The padded deluxe workstation with removable accessory pouch makes it easy to organize all of your office necessities. For added carrying convenience, this case is equipped with zip-away backpack straps, a padded adjustable/removable shoulder strap, an ergonomic mesh carry handle, trolley strap, hidden water bottle pocket and a nyflex lined sunglass pocket. The heavily padded computer sleeve provides the ultimate protection for your notebook. The case also expands 2.5″ for maximum capacity to accommodate all of your storage needs.”

So far, I have very comfortably gotten the following into the Targus Brilliance bag.

Lenovo X60 Tablet PC, Ultrabase, Power Adaptor, (2) portable HDD units, a 2″ text book, wallet, checkbook, more USB accessories and junk than I care to admit, cable lock, and Dennis’s Verizon AirCard in the case. Also, a coffee mug (empty of course), (2) legal pads, portable web cam, cordless MS mouse, iPod with case and headphones, and my ever present, Springfield XD .45 handgun. To try and push things a bit, I unzipped the expandable sides and was even able to add my Toshiba M200 AND power supply with no problems. Very impressive. I may now have a bag fetish. Thanks Rob! My wife will love you.
