TabletKiosk_Sahara_i440D_Hugo_Ortega_0001InkShow The availability of my videos are often subject to lighting, i.e. the lighting God wishes to bless upon the front right-side corner of my home between the hours of 8:00am and 11:30am every morning. This is the side of my house setup to shoot videos, and these are the hours that natural lighting render this possible. The dilemma this week however was that due to catastrophic winds and terrible amounts of rain there was no sun on the that side of my home. Only clouds. No matter what I have tried there are no lights, and no reflectors worth spending money on, that will improve this. Today however after much deliberation I took what was a healthy (dark) video which I shot five days ago and I decided to hit erase! I then took advantage of a window of light (quite literally) in order to shoot yet another GBM InkShow! This time showcasing the TabletKiosk Sahara i440D.

The i440D captured lots of attention back at CES Las Vegas earlier this year and has even be en reviewed by one of our GBM frequenters Steve S. It is a device promising lots via its Dual mode Active Digitizer Pen and 4-wire resistive Touchscreen combo; with its internal SATA and external SATA capabilities; with its ability to accept up to 3Gb of RAM, and more. In this video I cover off several features and address some of the questions folks have been asking regarding this device. So if you’re in the mood for something other than UMPC different, watch this video as TabletKiosk might be the right company to put on your radar!

What’s covered in the video:

  • Ports, Slots and RAM
  • “Wake on swipe”
  • Duo mode: “Touch mode”, “Pen mode”
  • Internal Specifications
  • Aero Glass and DreamScene!
  • Heat???
  • Media playback and MCE!
  • Powered VESA mount
  • Black is the new black! (Apple killed white! IMHO)
  • Conclusion (I failed to mention battery life but you can expect closer to 4hrs on the standard battery than most devices out there)

Watch or download the High Res version (29:26 minutes, 225mb, Windows Media streaming or direct download)
