Can Body Heat Power Your Mobile Device?

Body-heatI’m not talking about Kathleen Turner. Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute are working with thermoelectric generators to turn your body heat into power for your moble devices. Ther process relies on temperature differentials to generate electrical current like the difference between room temperature and body temperature. This could be an interesting development, although I can see lots of for steamy jokes here.

And for those with a sweet tooth, Sony is working on a bio-battery made of a vegetable-based plastic using sugar and enzymes. Apparently you pour a sugar solution into the unit where enzymes break it down to generate electricity. No word on whether or not this gives your device cavities.
