Significant Microsoft Updates Released Today

Just a public service announcements for those who do not have automatic updates enabled for Windows XP and Vista (or for those who have yet to receive the automatic updates): Windows released a slew of updates today, most of which are security enhancements. It should be noted that these listed updates are specific to my computers only, as these updates are also software dependent. In any case, give Windows Update a run and see if you have anything needed.

On my Windows XP machines, there were 9 significant updates:

  • Security Update for Outlook Express for Windows XP (KB951066)
  • Security Update for Windows XP (KB946648)
  • Security Update for Windows XP (KB952954)
  • Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 6 for Windows XP (KB953838)
  • Security Update for Windows XP (KB950974)
  • Update for Windows XP (KB951072)
  • Update for Windows XP (KB522287)

On my Vista Business Tablet, there were 14 significant updates:

  • Security Update for Windows Vista (KB953733)
  • Security Update for Microsoft Office Excel 2007 (KB951546)
  • Update for Windows Vista (KB951072)
  • Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool – August 2008 (KB890830)
  • Security Update for Windows Vista (KB950974)
  • Security Update for 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB951596)
  • Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista (KB953838)
  • Security Update for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 (KB951338)
  • Update for Windows Mail Junk E-mail Filter [August 2008] (KB905866)
  • Update for Windows Vista (KB952287)
  • Update for Windows Vista (KB951618)
  • Cumulative Security Update for ActiveX Killbits for Windows Vista (KB953839)
