Microsoft Donates 30 Tablet PCs To Harvard Teaching Fellows

dell_latitude_xt Teaching fellows at Harvard are now getting some first hand experience on how Tablet PCs can improve classroom duties.  30 Dell Latitude XT Tablet PCs were delivered last week for them and the initial response looks positive.  Here are a couple of comments from the article:

“Our students submit PDFs of code and we can write comments on it,” said Peter H. Lifland ’10, one of the almost 30 TFs for the course. “It makes the grading process a lot faster.

“It’s like when an English professor highlights or marks stuff,” said Kenneth A. Parreno ’11, another TF. “It helps us give a lot of feedback in a faster, more efficient way.”

    Great, but they probably should have picked a tablet that’s going to actually work most of the time. The TF’s my just get a bad opinion of these and apply that across to all tablets.

    May depend on whether the XT’s are running Vista or XP.

    Also if the New NTrig driver is not installed, is it more stable?

    From what I’ve read, it was the new driver which has added quiet a bit of unstability.

    I’ve had these problems, on and off, from the beginning – I don’t think it has anything to do with the new driver
