Which Companies are Working on Touch for Win 7?

In Steve Sinofsky’s keynote for WinHEC popped a slide that listed which companies are working on touch for Windows 7. No real suprises here, but the good news is that most of the usual suspects in the Tablet PC scene are listed on the slide.

In another note, Sinofsky was apparently asked about the recent brouhaha over Ray Ozzie’s Tablet PC past tense niche comment (Rob posted about this yesterday.) Read his comments carefully. Notice that in his talking about how much Microsoft is loving Tablet PCs and working on them, there is no mention of Inking and/or pen input beyond adding different recognizers for different languages. I may be overly cynical here in my reading of that, but I’m thinking that has more to do with touch input in Asian countries than I do pen and ink.
