Netbook Dreaming with Loren Heiny

twoscreenminismall So, what do you want in a Netbook (or whatever we are going to call them)? Loren Heiny is doing the same thing I am at the moment and checking out the HP Mini 1000. Well, when I can get it away from my wife, that is. And as a good Tableteer, he’s thinking about how a Netbook would function with touch or the pen.

Loren has photo-shopped up some interesting pictures to express some of his wishes and to look at some of the pros and cons.

    Yep, a dual screen Tablet is not a new idea. The thought was whether a Netbook could provide the standard components for a slate.

    Desktops have benefited from standardization in components, but the same hasn’t yet occurred for notebooks–or Tablet PCs. In part, the goal of the UMPC was along these lines, to leverage standard and widely available components, such as the display. I’ve been wondering if it’s feasible to take something like a Netbook or a Classmate PC and “twist” it into a slate.

    i hope something like this does become real soon. of course, each screen needs dual capacitive touch and digitizer pen capabilities. and maybe the ability to open 360 degrees like a real spiral bound notebook. and be light and thin. that would be nice. i’d also go for a single screen version that’s basically just a THIN slate. but the duel-screen version would be awesome.
