Tablet PC Inking Plugin for Acrobat

Good friend of GottaBeMobile.com James Province shot us a link to a video showing an Inking plugin for Acrobat.  What’s the best part?  Well, James is the star of that video!  The post that is over on the Acrobat Blogs is informative and also has a video overview of the application in action.  This new inking plugin looks like the perfect solution for iediting in Acrobat if you don’t want to purchase a 3rd party PDF application.  The cost of this plugin is $69.

    It seems a nice idea but what does the default Adobe Acrobat have in it now?

    As I remember on my old TC1000 I had a spare license taht I used to put Acrobat 6 on it and it had basic inking (no recog though) and erasing and highlighting.

    Yah, I think adobe acrobat already has the capabilities. it is just an extended option so you can choose stuff easier!!! I think this would be great if you can use it in acrobat reader. Other than that, i don’t think it is worth it if you already have adobe acrobat!!!

    The $69 cost is rather steep for a plug-in.

    Yes, Acrobat has everything in-built already. The PlugIn does almost only offer you a toolbar with a few custom pens. The price is ridiculous and Acrobats ink support is also more than worse. You can’t use Acrobat to write as natural as you can in PDF Revu or PDF Annotator. So it’s a useless PlugIn

    Yeah, Adobe Acrobat (not reader) allows you to do basic inking and highlighting. Then there are the alternate PDF inkable programs like PDF Annotator or Bluebeam’s PDF Revu. I like PDF Annotator and it is only $69. I assume the plugin to adobe does something extra above the basic inking built into Acrobat, or it wouldn’t be worth it…

    This plugin gives you smooth inking… it’s not using the built-in inking of Acrobat. You can try it for free on their website… Still, $69 is steep…
    If PDF Annotator had some of Acrobat functions (like smooth zooming) it would be the perfect annotation tool. It’s still the best solution out there , in my opinion.

    I use PD Annotator and find it works great. I never use Adobe, that thing is huge and buggy

    Price seems high for what it does. PDF Revu is $149 and is a complete pdf creation solution as well a ink annotator. (I am not associated with Bluebeam PDF Revu)

    PDF Annotator (http://www.ograhl.com/en/pdfannotator/) is $69.95. The new Acrobat plugin is $69. Doesn’t seem like a coincidence.

    I use Acrobat on a daily basis. The files I read are well over 700mbs. PDF Annotator 2.0 can’t open many files over 400mbs. Load time is sometimes nausiating with Annotator.

    Those that comment on Acrobat’s inking ability obviously don’t use it for everyday inking on a .pdf. This plug-in allows natural inking. Acrobat’s inking is suited for signatures. The difference in the latter two is similar to drawing with a mouse instead of a digitizer…same task can be perfomed, but without the same result.
