Latitude XT2 Our always reliable forum members unearthed the service manual for Dell’s unannounced XT2 Tablet PC. — complete with specs, pictures, and all.

Complete specs and more pictures after the break.

  • DDR3, eSATA, GMA X4500 graphics (they dropped the ATI video card)
  • Capable of 5GB of RAM
  • 1.8” SATA
  • 34mm Express Card ( a change from ExpressCard 54)
  • One USB port capable of PowerShare, which can charge a USB device while the tablet is off
  • They are sticking with ULV
  • Notice the antennae bump on the right side of the screen, which is a change from XT which had a little lift tab in the middle of the bezel.
  • According to the manual, they’ve also done away with one of the programmable buttons — email.
  • The weight of 2.2 lbs looks suspiciously low. I can’t imagine them dropping over a pound in weight going from XT to the XT2. I’m thinking the weight is not including battery or display.

r – we are in steady communications with Dell….

I’d have to think they want to ship this as soon as possible given that people are waiting for it, but who knows. After looking around hopefully on the web, the thing has apparently been rumored for nearly a year already, maybe the stuff that’s been posted is just an error and the product was actually canceled. (I would be unsurprised to see some vaporware products that people are waiting for never materialize in this economy – it happens in a boom already, and in a crash, even having gotten as far as updating their manuals, Dell may very well have decided not to bother producing it.)

Allowing these manuals to be released and then to stay up would have to be a pretty dumb move on their part though – I have to imagine that few people will buy an XT with a refresh possibly imminent. If they’re not going to release immediately, they should pull these down.

I have seen the price of the XT take a nose dive on the local Dell website up to 450 euro (592.38 Dollar) discount.
I am still hoping the XT2 is getting release soon i have been waiting for this puppy some time now..

Now they’re actually showing PARTS FOR SALE for the XT2 – check out http://search.dell.com/results.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&cat=prod&k=xt2&rpp=12&p=1&rf=all&nk=f&ira=False&~srd=False&ipsys=False&advsrch=False&~ck=tab.

Apparently (i) it will use 1066 Mhz ( PC3-8500 ) DDR3 RAM, and (ii) they’re going for a long, slow tease on the release…
