Sony Vaio P Available with Rebate from Verizon

Well, well, well. The much talked about Sony Vaio P (remember it isn’t a Netbook) looks like it is now available with the Gobi chipset for 3G connectivity on the go. Verizon is selling the small device and also offering a $200 rebate in the form of a debit card. That ‘rebate’ is mail in, so don’t plan on walking out of the store with the debit card in hand. Of course you have to be willing to sign up for a 2-year contract with Verizon to take advantage of this.

It looks like you need to activate the service by March 31 and have it active for 30 days before you can get the rebate. I still find it amazing that companies and carriers like to play the exclusive game, but I guess there are enough folks who take them up on this to make it viable for them to do so.
