sakshat The other day we posted about the unveiling of a $10 laptop from India that was about to be unveiled. Well it was. It doesn’t cost $10 and it isn’t a laptop. It is essentially a storage device for what they call e-content that can hook up to a laptop and will cost about $30. But it was unveiled yesterday. It does have a name though. It’s called the Sakshat.

So it turned out to be a nas/router device?

I was hoping it would be a graphing calculator like device with the form of a nintendo ds replacing the buttons and touchscreen with a keyboard. It would only have the processing power and screen as a low end cellphone. It would need a very lightweight os that allows very simple web browsing, rss reader, word precessing, ebook reader, email client, ect. Throw in a microphone and speaker, and you’d have a decent mp3, internet radio, voip device.

This could be possible for under $40. Might not be a whole lot more useful than those $10 pda keychains but at least you could do basic pc functions.

This article is very useful for everyone of us. Sometimes the problem is not that big, the only thing we need is to think and use our common sense. And after that, we are going to fix a problem on our own.
