Lenovo Prepping a 12 Inch Netbook?

Published

on

lenovo-s10-ideapad1Interesting. Some chatter this morning that Lenovo might be going a bit against the grain when it comes to Netbook screen size and prepping a 12 inch version called the S20. According to DigiTimes the S20 would feature the Intel Atom N280 chipset and speculation is that it will follow the same design of the S10 (pictured.)

The grain I was referrring to earlier is the restriction that Intel has placed on OEMs that Netbooks contain 10 inch screens or smaller. Well, if the rise of the Netbook has proved anything, it is that these disrupters can change any companies attempts at establishing a roadmap or standard. Just ask Microsoft.

The “Save the Netbooks” campaign is fighting the impending trademark threat from Psion Teklogix, who have given until the end of March 2009 to cease using the term citing trademarks relating to a line of products discontinued over 5 years ago.

I am not a lawyer, but I don’t think that trademark dispute will come to anything.
I think they let it go on too long.
They did not defend their trademark from misuse early so in effect they have abandoned their right to it.
    That’s how I see it.

why not make 12inch or greater ‘netbooks’? The atom is just a processor. Why keep it bound to a tiny screen?
