Asus Aims for a Thinner Eee

Warner Crocker —  02/27/2009

Thin must be in as it looks like Asus is planning to launch yet another slim or slimmer model of the vaunted Eee PC line. Apparently the Eee PC S101 isn’t thin enough for some, because Asus is readying what will be called the Eee PC Shell. I like that they are changing the naming convention, apparently moving away from the alpah-numeric format.

The Eee PC Shell will most likely be announced in April and Asus isn’t alone here. Acer and MSI have been tuning up thinner and lighter notebooks as well. Word on pricing for the Eee Shell is somewhere between $400 and $600 US, but nothing is definite on that yet. Perhaps we’ll hear more out of CeBit next week.
