I know we’re all growing tired of the usual netbook specs (Intel Atom 1.6GHz, 160GB hard drive and Windows XP), but the Gdium Liberty 1000 is a step in the wrong direction. Laptop Magazine reviewed this oddball netbook and didn’t like much about it.
Instead of a hard drive or SSD it comes with a 16GB flash drive that plugs into the front of the netbook. I’m not sure what Emtec is trying to accomplish with this netbook, but it seems to be an utter failure. Joanna Stern writes that the Gdium Liberty 1000 has a “flavorless” design, slow performance and short battery life.
Its many flaws might be acceptable if it were a lot cheaper than the average netbook, but at $349.99 it’s an extremely poor value.
