e-Book Consolidation? Amazon Acquires Stanza

Posted by | 04/27/2009 | 2 Comments

Consolidation or knocking down a competitor? I don’t know but Amazon as acquired Lexcycle the company that produces the iPhone e-Book reader Stanza. Of course Amazon also has its Kindle reader on the iPhone as well. Don’t look for any changes immediately according to Lexccyle:

We are not planning any changes in the Stanza application or user experience as a result of the acquisition. Customers will still be able to browse, buy, and read ebooks from our many content partners

That said, Stanza’s uses the EPub format which up until now Amazon has not supported on its platform.
