Minority Report is Playing Tricks On Me…

I’m writing some content for Notebooks.com tonight and watching movies in the background. Minority Report, a movie famous for its display of gesture computing, is on right now and it almost caused me to goof on a review.

My iPhone 3G is plugged into a Callpod Fueltank on my coffee table and I was about to note that it wouldn’t maintain a connection. I kept hearing my iPhone 3G connecting to the Fueltank and begin charging, even though I wasn’t touching it.

I took a break from writing, turned up my TV’s volume a little so I could hear the dialogue and picked up my iPhone and the Fueltank. I unplugged my iPhone and plugged it in again as Tom Cruise explained how pre-cognition works. Then I heard my iPhone beep like I’d plugged it in, except it was like 10 times louder than normal. I realized tone wasn’t coming from my iPhone, but from my TV. Apparently, the biometric security systems of the year 2057 sound just like an iPhone being plugged in.

I’m not the first to notice this:

Do you think this is coincidence or Apple’s engineers giving a shout out to the Minority Report?
