Virgin America First US Airline with WiFi on Every flight

Virgin America announced today that its GoGo in-flight Internet service is available on every flight. The Gogo service is available for $12.95 for daytime flights of over three hours, $9.95 for daytime flights of less than three hours, $5.95 on red-eye flights and $7.95 for handheld devices.

I liked being able to get online in the sky, but the last offline sanctuary is slipping away. Fortunately, Virgin’s blocking VOIP calls to keep the sky as civil as possible.

I’ve flown Virgin America a few times and got a chance to use the GoGo service on the airline’s maiden voyage from SFO to Orange County. It’s speedy enough to browse the web and check email without any hiccups at all. One blogger on the flight was able to go live on USTREAM.

Virgin America doesn’t fly to as many destinations as the big guys do, but their rates are very reasonable and their planes are loaded with the best in-flight entertainment system that I’ve ever seen. I talked to Richard Branson about some of the entertainment and technology on his flights.
