iPhone 3GS Launch Causes Problems Nets $30 Credit for Some

Some are blaming AT&T for this and driving another wedge in the Apple/AT&T relationship. Regardless, Apple can’t seem to launch a new iPhone without some users getting caught in activation and server issues. While some seemed to pick up their new iPhone 3GS without an issue, (I had no problems) some had difficulty getting the phone activated, seeing messages that it could take up to 48 hours due to server issues. Apparently the problem was big enough that Apple quickly moved to offer affected customers a $30 iTunes credit, along with the bad news that it could take an additional 48 hours to straighten out the mess. This with reports filtering in that Apple sold over 750,000 to 1 million of the new phones this weekend. Apparently if you’re one of those affected, you’ve received an email about this issue.

On other fronts concerning the iPhone 3GS and 3.0 OS, apparently Apple is still having server issues with the Push features as well. Many users are clamoring for apps that take advantage of Push, but they seem to have been delayed while the problem is being worked on.

I guess this kind of thing is becoming the norm for new iPhone launches much to everyone’s dismay.
