Guess what I’ve got in my hot little hands and am inking all over? A Motion Computing J3400 Tablet PC with: Windows 7 Build 7201 (that’s right – more recent than the RC), complete with Windows 7 ready Motion Dashboard, Motion QuickNav, camera, buttons, and rotation all working. This is as close to an OEM build of Windows 7 and OEM drivers as I have yet to see anywhere. I’ve also been playing with Windows Virtual PC running XP and the J3400 has not skipped a beat at all. In addition, this J3400 production build is using a brand new U9600 1.6 ghz processor, 4 gb of RAM, and a 64 gb SSD. This J3400 flies!
So far, I’ve been very impressed with how fluid the tablet pc experience has been on the J3400 running Windows 7. Inking and rotation have been flawless. I’ll be using the J3400 over the next couple of weeks, so look for some more impressions, as well as an InkShow.
By the way, I’ll also be taking the Fujitsu ST6012 head to head with the J3400, so stay tuned for that, too. Yes, I’m going to install Windows 7 on the ST6012, although I’ll be missing Windows 7 OEM driver for the Fujitsu unit.
Meanwhile, enjoy these screenshots showing the experience index, performance values, Motion Dashboard, etc. It is amazing to see only 48 processes running on this guy – well done Motion and Microsoft. I’m going to have to figure out a way to keep this tablet….
