fccchairRegardless of your political affiliation or whether or not you follow politics or think that they are important, here’s an interview worth reading. It is also worth reading if you want to gain some insight into the Federal Communications Commission, the US agency that will determine many of the policies about how the sometimes seemingly out of control mobile industry deals with issues that affect how you use your devices.

Om Malik of GigaOm interviewed new FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski (prior to the hullabaloo with the FCC getting involved in the Google/AT&T/Apple Google Voice issue). Genachowski stakes out his positions and vision for the FCC moving forward. The key focus is “consumers, competition, and innovation” according to the new FCC boss, who sees the guardian agency of the public’s airwaves quite differently than his predecessor.

Well worth a read.
