Australian Students Getting Windows 7 Early, 267K Netbooks

Three New South Wales (NSW) secondary schools are passing out netbooks loaded with Windows 7 a little ahead of everyone else. According to Australian IT, the initial impressions of Windows 7 have been very positive.

About 9,000 NSW teachers have been using Windows 7 RC to get accustomed to the new operating system before it is widely deployed as part of Australia’s $2 billion (AUD) digital education revolution project.

Lenovo Australia won a contract to distribute 267,000 netbooks to students and teachers this year and next.

The NSW Department of Education will use Windows 7 exclusively on its new netbooks.
