Apple Changes Price on iPod Touch Quicker Than Sprint Pulls Specials on the Palm Pre

Posted by | 09/09/2009 | 2 Comments

Yesterday we had the Palm Pre special that quickly got pulled. Today we had Apple’s big announcement that featured price drops on the iPod Touch to make room for a larger capacity (64GB) model. Well this morning we noticed that the 8GB iPod Touch was running at $189. After the big announcement it is $199. Interesting. Before and after pictures below. The 32GB model also jumped in price from $279 to $299. But I’m guessing that can be justified as Apple bumped the processor and added OpenGL to the bigger GB units. I thought I heard this wasn’t the case with the 8GB but maybe not. Someone correct me if I’m wrong there. Hope you moved quick.

I’ve been up and down the reports on the 8GB to determine if there’s a real reason it doesn’t support Voice Control. As far as I can tell, it doesn’t have the processing power. Pretty sure it’s still the 2nd gen model.

D’oh! It’s stated directly in the model comparison (and your screenshot). 16 & 32 are faster. 8 is not.
