Voice Terminal Service: Access Google Services with Your Voice

Screen shot 2009-10-09 at 12.25.14 PMVoice Terminal Service allows people to access listen to their email and personalized web data over the phone by dialing into a toll-free number. Audiopoint announced today that the service can now tap into Google calendars and Google 411. Voice Terminal Service is designed to provide easy access to information for those who are visually impaired, but I think others may find it useful as well.

I set up a free trial account and gave it a quick spin this morning. I listened to a couple of news stories, checked some stock prices and listened to a test email I sent myself. The robotic voice was pretty easy to understand on all counts. You can listen to a sample of the audio here. More importantly, the service does well when it comes to voice commands.

There’s a free 30-day trial of the service and a base plan for $4.95 per month that allows for 100 minutes of usage per month. There are several other plans available, including an unlimited plan that costs $499 per year. Audiopoint is offering the service for free to visually impaired veterans who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
