WikiReader: Wikipedia in Your Pocket for $99

The WikiReader is a new touchscreen device that gives you anytime, anywhere access to over three million English WikiPedia articles. It doesn’t connect to the Internet, but for $29 you can sign up to receive microSD cards loaded with new content in the mail twice a year. You can grab the updates for free from the WikiReader update page. Not seeing updates on the device for months on end means you’ll be stuck with old content, but you can always hop on a PC if you want the full Wikipedia experience.

The WikiReader’s manufacturer claims the device will run for months on a pair of AAA batteries.

The WikiReader is available now for $99. I won’t be buying one of these since I can access Wikipedia on my iPhone and any other device connected to the Internet, but I could see how some people could find the device useful.
