Apple Releaes OSX 10.6.2: Squashes Hackintoshes or Maybe Not

intel-atom-logo1.jpgApple released OSX 10.6.2 today and fixed quite a few bugs, including a nasty one that ate all data if you logged in with a guest account. Apparently, as has been rumored off and on, the official release does not support Intel’s Atom chipset and so Hackintoshers are out of luck if they want to run the update.

    Not all hackintoshes have Intel Atom processors. Adam’s Lifehacker post isn’t referring to a netbook.

    Adam is probably not running it on an Atom-based Hackintosh. Although Atom appears to be the most common hackintosh platform (I have no factual data to back up that statement), there are plenty of people running Mac OSX on plain old desktops.

    I’m not one of them, I’m proudly running it on my Acer Aspire One.
